Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai appraised the efforts made by Ninh Thuan provincial government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Electricity, Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower JSC., for early completion of the procedures for implementing the project on schedule.

After completing the expansion project, the plant to will have total installed capacity of 240 MW.
The existing plant consists of four units of 160 MW. According to the schedule, expansion units will be put into trial operation by the first quarter of 2018 and commercial operation by the second quarter of 2018.
