VND 77 billion is invested in upgrading the power grids in remote areas of Thai Nguyen province

On December 7, 2017, in Ao Then village, Yen Do commune, Phu Luong district, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) organized a groundbreaking ceremony of the Project “Rehabilitating and upgrading power grids in rural, mountainous and remote areas of Thai Nguyen province in 2017 – 2018”, with a total investment cost of VND 77 billion.

Mr. Dinh Hoang Duong, Director of Thai Nguyen Power Company (Thai Nguyen PC), said that with the construction of 20 km of medium voltage power lines, 37 distribution substations and 155 km of low voltage power lines, the project will increase the reliability of electricity supply to about 6,000 households in 65 hamlets and villages of 29 communes in Phu Luong, Dai Tu, Dinh Hoa, Phu Binh districts and Pho Yen town.

Particularly in Phu Luong district, one of the districts having many difficult hamlets and villages, VND 30 billion will be invested to raise the reliability of electricity supply for about 2,300 households of 27 villages in 07 communes.

Thai Nguyen PC not only secures electricity supply for major industrial zones, urban areas, but also pays attention to investing in, upgrading and rehabilitating rural power grids, especially in mountainous, remote areas.

The Project “Rehabilitating and upgrading power grids in rural, mountainous and remote areas of Thai Nguyen province in 2017 – 2018” is one of the activities in response to the "Customer Gratitude" month that EVNNPC has implemented in the Northern provinces. The project is expected to be completed by June 2018.

Before starting construction of this project, in June 2017, Thai Nguyen PC completed a project of carrying electricity to 14 hamlets, villages yet to be electrified yet in Van Lang commune, Dong Hy district, supplying electricity to nearly 1,600 households. In September 2017, the project of rehabilitating rural power grids financed by the German Reconstruction Bank (KWF) kept being accomplished to improve the electricity quality for more than 25,000 households in the project area.
