EVN promotes gender equality linked to human resource management and corporate culture

Gender equality at EVN is being implemented in an increasingly substantive manner, linked to human resource development, enhancing the role of female employees, and building an equal and professional corporate culture.

This was one of the key points emphasized at the conference summarizing gender equality work for the period 2021-2025 and implementing the action plan for the period 2026-2031, organized by EVN on the afternoon of May 21st in Hanoi. EVN’s Vice President Ngo Son Hai attended and chaired the conference.

The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, with representatives from EVN's member corporations and units attending from locations nationwide.

Women at EVN affirm their important role and contributions.

During the period 2021-2025, gender equality within EVN was implemented in the context of the Group undertaking many important tasks related to ensuring power supply, digital transformation, improving customer service quality, and restructuring and renovating the governance model. In this context, gender equality was not limited to activities and caring for the lives of female employees, but was gradually integrated into human resource management, the development of female staff, and the creation of a professional working environment.

According to the report presented at the conference, female workers currently account for 20.4% of the total workforce at EVN. Female workers are present in almost all aspects of the Group's operations, from business, customer service, finance and accounting, human resources, communications, and office work to technical fields, project management, operation, repair, and construction supervision of power projects.

One notable achievement is that the proportion of female cadres holding leadership and management positions across EVN reached approximately 13% of the total number of leadership and management cadres, falling within the set target. The proportion of women in the planning at EVN's Departments/Offices reached 31%; at member units, the number of female cadres in the planning is 2,223, accounting for 17.6% of the total number of planned cadres. These are indicators showing that gender equality has been more clearly integrated into personnel work, planning, training, and human resource development.

EVN has also implemented training, communication, and international cooperation on gender equality in various forms. During the period 2021-2025, EVN collaborated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Vietnam Women's Empowerment Association (VBCWE), the French Development Agency (AFD), and the Swedish International Council for Industry (NIR) to organize numerous programs to raise awareness of gender equality, train leadership skills, promote the role of female managers, and strengthen the participation of men in achieving gender equality. These included a workshop with USAID attended by 450 delegates; a program with VBCWE trained 50 female managers; a program with AFD trained 40 current and prospective female leaders and managers; and a "Guys Talk" program with NIR involved 135 leaders and managers at all levels.

Notably, to date, four corporations, including EVNHCMC, EVNHANOI, EVNSPC, and EVNGENCO3, have achieved the EDGE Global Gender Equality Certification. This result demonstrates the units' efforts in adopting international standards for an equal, diverse, and inclusive work environment.

Towards an equal, modern, and meaningful work environment

In implementing its plan for the 2026-2031 period, EVN has identified gender equality as a key focus of the Group's development strategy, digital transformation, energy transition, labour productivity improvement, and corporate governance modernization. Key tasks include: strengthening the accountability of leaders; continuing communication to raise awareness; developing a workforce of female employees; providing in-depth training on gender and gender equality; and integrating gender equality goals into internal management regulations, collective labour agreements, and annual plans of its units.
