Vietnam Electricity plays a central role in the energy transition in Vietnam. In response to the Government’s commitment to emission reduction, EVN is developing an energy transition roadmap, adjusting its development strategy, and preparing and implementing appropriate clean energy investment projects. AFD as a reliable and long-term partner will support EVN in this transition process. In which, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Extension is one of the exemplary projects funded by AFD to support the energy transition.
The visit to the construction site of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Extension Project (+480MW) by the CEO of AFD is an opportunity to witness EVN's efforts in developing critical power plants. In addition to adding power generation capacity from renewable energy, the project will contribute to improving the operational efficiency of Vietnam's power system, in the context of renewable energy penetration in an increasingly extensive manner.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Rémi Rioux – AFD’s CEO affirmed that EVN's active participation in the energy transition process in Vietnam is the key to EVN's own success.
