The Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) has assigned Ca Mau Power Company as the main investor of this project.
During the project’s 1st phase in 2016, it will supply power for 1,388 off-grid households in the region of 33 hamlets in 10 villages (of the 2 districts: U Minh and Thoi Binh) in Ca Mau province. The total investment for this project is more than VND40.7 billion, covering: the construction of a new 45.5-kilometer, 1-phase, medium-voltage transmission line and a 64.5-kilometer, low-voltage transmission line (the length of the independent low-voltage transmission line is 30.5 km, while that of the joint low-voltage line is 33.7 km with a total substation capacity of 2,475 kVA.
Almost 1,400 remote households in Ca Mau province will have access to the national power transmission system by the end of 2016.
This is a special project because local households will be connected to power without having to pay for any charges. Ca Mau Power Company will apply successive construction method to implement the project, which allows immediate access to power for the households to complete work items of the project.
When this project has been completed, 98.4% of households in the entire Ca Mau province and 98.6% of households in rural areas of the province will have access to electricity. This is an opportunity for social-economic development, poverty reduction, and enhancement of living quality for the residents.
This project allows Ca Mau province to complete the rural electrification project for the regional social-economic development.
