At the meeting, EVN’s Chairman Duong Quang Thanh thanked and showed appreciation for KfW’s and the German Government’s active support and assistance extended to EVN through ODA concessional loans for investment in, construction and rehabilitation of power distribution, transmission grid projects and wind power plants in Vietnam, contributing to ensuring the power system stability, providing efficient and sustainable energy sources.

Tri An Hydropower Plant Extension project is the first one to be financed by a KfW’s non-sovereign loan. The two parties are committed to making efforts to harmonize the procedures of the parties in order to sign the loan agreement for the project in June 2023.
On KfW's side, Mr. Joachim Schumacher - General Director in charge of East Asia and Southeast Asia affirmed that EVN is one of KfW's most important partners in Vietnam. KfW shall work closely with EVN to further implement priority projects of the parties in the coming time, including ODA-funded transmission and distribution grid projects and non-sovereign loan projects such as Tri An Hydropower Plant Extension, Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line and Bac Ai pumped storage hydropower plant which will be co-financed by KfW and other financiers.
