China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company and Korea Electricity Power Corporation work at EVN

On 30 November 2022 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh – Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) welcomed and worked with delegations of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company (CGN) and Korea Electricity Power Corporation (KEPCO).

Head of the delegation of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company (CGN) - Mr. Zhang Chaoqun, Deputy Director of CGN, discussed with EVN's leaders the desire to exploit and invest in the Vietnamese market in the area of renewable energy, especially offshore wind power projects. CGN is willing to share experiences and techniques with EVN in areas where the company has strengths.

CGN is an enterprise with extensive experience in nuclear and offshore wind power development in China, as well as in many other countries. Currently, the CGN has investment projects in 15 countries. In China, the government has now reduced the price of offshore wind power to the price of coal-fired power

Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh - Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) said that in terms of renewable energy, Vietnam has developed strongly since 2019 until now. In the draft Power Master Plan VIII that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam is submitting to the Government for approval, there is also a plan to develop offshore wind power projects. Currently, offshore wind power projects in Vietnam are still in the research stage.

Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh also hoped that in the near future, EVN would cooperate with CGN to exchange, share and provide technical support in the area of offshore wind power development.

On the same day, Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh welcomed and worked with Mr. Choi Young Ho - the General Controller of KEPCO.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the operation of the Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant, solutions to reduce carbon emissions, and environmental protection.

Mr. Choi Young Ho thanked EVN for supporting and creating favorable conditions for KEPCO during the implementation of the Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant; at the same time, he hopes that the two sides will cooperate in more areas in the near future.
