On 24 August 2022, in Hanoi, EVN President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan welcomed and worked with the delegation of BP Group, the British Embassy in Hanoi, and the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, the representative of BP Group discussed with the EVN President and CEO the plan to develop offshore wind power in Vietnam. BP is a major energy corporation with operations in Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and Africa. BP is executing the goal to reduce carbon emissions, with the goal of reaching 50GW of renewable capacity by 2023.

BP and Sovico Group (Vietnam) are currently cooperating to develop wind power projects in the offshore area of ​​Quang Ninh province. At the meeting, the leaders of these two groups shared project information, presented information about the project, and expressed their desire to cooperate with EVN in developing renewable energy.

Representative of the British Embassy in Hanoi, Counselor Ronal Bohlander, said that the British Embassy is ready to be a bridge to support the cooperation between EVN and British enterprises. The Embassy wishes that EVN and BP will develop a good partnership in the coming time.

Welcoming the delegation, EVN President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan provided information on the situation of electricity demand in Vietnam, some draft contents of the Power Development Master Plan No.8, and basic principles of operation of the electricity market in Vietnam. EVN President and CEO Tran Dinh said that EVN will sign power purchase and sale agreements with wind power investors according to the guidance on the pricing mechanism from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. EVN is ready to cooperate and support investors and will assign the National Power Transmission Corporation to work on the connection and transmission of wind power.
