Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Pham Hong Phuong attended the event and presented the supporting amount by EVN.
“The whole country joins hands for the poor" program is an event held on 17 October, the International Day for Poverty Elimination every year. On this occasion, EVN donated VND1 billion to the "For the Poor" Fund.
Along with the task of ensuring power supply, EVN always cares about and dedicates resources to perform many social security activities across the country, contributing to helping people in difficult circumstances to escape from poverty. Typically, EVN has supported a number of localities to build schools; supported in medical equipment for medical examination and treatment of people in remote and isolated areas; joined hands, supported localities in overcoming consequences of storms and floods; contributed to helping people to ease their worries and overcome losses from natural disasters.
In addition, EVN and its units regularly support building of gratitude houses for policy families; care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; support beneficiaries of policy families, those with meritorious services to the revolution; coordinate with Vietnam Television and the Ministry of Health to implement and sponsor "Vietnamese belief" charity eye surgery program for children in many localities.

According to the Organizing Committee of the program, after nearly four years of implementation, a large number of businesses, units and individuals have supported the 4-level "For the Poor" Fund and social security with an amount of over VND16,410 billion. From the above mobilized fund, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has supported the poor to build and repair 127,427 solidarity houses, helped hundreds of thousands of poor people develop production; helped millions of students in learning; helped over four million poor people and people in extremely difficult condition receive medical examination and treatment; built thousands of civil works such as bridges and roads, classrooms, medical examination and treatment facilities, community houses, etc.) and other supports to help the poor.
