EVN promotes energy cooperation with the United States

On March 28, 2018, in Hanoi, EVN’s Chairman of Board of Directors Duong Quang Thanh welcomed and worked with the US - ASEAN Business Council.

Mr. Wouter Van Wersch, President and CEO of GE Asia Pacific, co – head of the US – ASEAN Business Council delegation, said the US - Vietnam cooperation has strongly developed during the past time. In the energy area, many US businesses have created a strong and close bond with EVN. He also emphasized that this successful meeting will open new cooperation opportunities, promoting and elevating the energy cooperation among US and Vietnamese partners.

At the meeting, representatives of US businesses such as GE, 3M, USTDA, DOW, ExxonMobil, etc. introduced their strengths in products and services in the field of energy, as well as put forward some recommendations in order to promote cooperation with EVN.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh stated that EVN is always willing to cooperate with US energy companies, especially in the development of power plant projects with modern technology, applying the advances of industrial revolution 4.0 to improve the effectiveness of management, production and business activities of the Group. EVN expects US energy companies to support the transfer of knowledge and technology, assisting EVN in some human resource training programs, etc.

On the morning of March 28, 2018, in order to promote the energy cooperation with US partners, EVN’s President and CEO Dang Hoang An welcomed and worked with Mr. Levi White - representative of the United States Department of Energy.

At the meeting, EVN’s President and CEO Dang Hoang An shared some information of the US Department of Energy’s interest, such as: Vietnamese electricity market, power generation structure, power sales growth rate, potential energy consumption in the future, etc.

The two sides also talked about the potential of the gas market for electricity generation in Vietnam and opportunities for US businesses to invest in the energy sector in Vietnam.
