AFD is a prominent donor of EVN, providing preferential non-sovereign loans for EVN’s clean energy and renewable energy projects such as Se San 4 solar farm, Hoa Binh hydropower extension, Ialy hydropower extension projects, or grid projects to absorb power from renewable energy sources such as the Southern grid strengthening project. AFD's loans have assisted EVN in effectively making financial arrangements, diversifying financial sources, and optimizing capital arrangement costs without increasing the public debt burden on the Government of Vietnam.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors emphasized: "We highly appreciate the cooperation, assistance and efforts extended by AFD in the strategic partnership with EVN over the past time in the field of the energy transition, with the aim of realizing the Vietnamese Government's international commitments on emission reduction".

The leader of EVN was committed to further devoting EVN's best resources to maintaining, developing and elevating this partnership to a higher level through cooperation activities in the field of energy transition in the coming period.

On this occasion, Vietnam Electricity also shared the strategic orientations and experiences of EVN in the energy transition process. From the French delegation’s viewpoint, EVN's experiences in just energy transition have shed light on potential cooperation areas, as well as limitations to address associated challenges.

According to Mr. Rémy Rioux – AFD’s Chief Executive Officer, France, via AFD, is committed to making available resources to support EVN in overcoming challenges in the energy transition process. In particular, AFD will support EVN not only with French resources but also can mobilize the diverse experiences of the member states of the European Union.

Launching ceremony of technical cooperation program between Vietnam Electricity and Électricité de France, financed by French Development Agency

Within the framework of the meeting, EVN and EDF held the launching ceremony of the technical cooperation program between Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Électricité de France (EDF) which is financed by the French Development Agency. The ceremony marked the fruitful cooperation relationship between AFD, EDF and EVN in the field of energy transition and sustainable, green energy development.
