MOECO is a partner of EVN in the Block B gas project. This project is expected to supply 5.06 billion m3 of gas per year (during the stabilization period) for 4 thermal power plants at O Mon Power Complex (Can Tho City), including: O Mon I, II, III and IV TPPs.
MOECO has been involved in investment in the Block B gas project for more than 25 years and is still making a very active contribution to promoting the project chain.
Vietnam Electricity and its member entity Power Generation Corporation 2 (EVNGENCO 2) have also been actively preparing investment procedures and implementing thermal power plants at the O Mon Power Complex, consuming natural gas from Block B, with 3 power plants: O Mon I, O Mon III and O Mon IV.

At the meeting, EVN’s General Director Tran Dinh Nhan and MOECO’s President and CEO Hirotaka Hamamoto spent a lot of time discussing in detail obstacles related to the project implementation, such as gas offtake mechanism, power system operation, determining the first gas supply time, etc.
The two parties also discussed and suggested solutions, agreed to propose to Governmental bodies and ministries for their consideration and introduction of an appropriate mechanism for project implementation.
MOECO’s President and CEO thanked EVN for actively cooperating and promoting the implementation of the Block B gas project chain in the past time.
On the side of EVN, General Director Tran Dinh Nhan expressed his belief in a good cooperation relationship and wished that the two parties would further work together and cooperate effectively in the coming time.
