EVN's President and CEO welcomes and works with developer of Monsoon wind power project

On March 8 in Hanoi, the President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) - Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan welcomed and worked with Mr. Peck Khamkanist - CEO of Impact Electrons Siam, the developer of Monsoon wind power project (Laos).

At the meeting, Mr. Peck Khamkanist - CEO of Impact Electrons Siam exchanged information with EVN’s President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan about the cooperation implementation status and milestones of the project.

EVN's President and CEO emphasized that EVN pays a lot of attention to the implementation progress of Monsoon wind power project. The project is not only meaningful to EVN, the shareholders, the financiers, etc., but also for the close relationship between Vietnam and Laos. In the past time, EVN has been actively working with ministries, agencies and the People's Committee of Quang Nam province to accelerate the progress of the 500kV Monsoon - Thanh My transmission line project. EVN is committed to ensuring the project progress to meet the requirement of absorbing the plant's output. EVN's President and CEO also suggested that Monsoon wind power project should be implemented on schedule to generate commercial electricity as planned.

Monsoon wind power project with a total capacity of 600MW is going to be built in the Southeast of Laos, located about 22km from the Laos-Vietnam border. The targeted commercial operation date (COD) is in the second quarter of 2025. The policy of importing electricity from this project has been approved by the Prime Minister in Document No.938/TTg-CN dated July 21, 2022. The power purchase agreement for the project has been signed by EVN and Impact Energy Asia Development Limited (the project investor) since January 10, 2022. Accordingly, the Monsoon wind power plant project will be connected to the Vietnamese power system via the 500kV Monsoon - Thanh My transmission line, with a total length of 65km (of which about 43km is in the territory of Vietnam).
