Improving load capacity of Son La - Viet Tri 220kV transmission line

The load capacity increasing project of Son La - Viet Tri 220kV transmission line was commenced by the Power Transmission Project Management Board (under the National Power Transmission Corporation - EVNNPT) in collaboration with contractors on the morning of 30 March 2022, in Son La.

According to the plan, the work will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2022. The project is implemented on the existing Son La - Viet Tri 220kV transmission line passing through Son La and Phu Tho provinces with a length of about 167km.

The project has a total investment of more than VND 357 billion, invested by EVNNPT.

Delegates performed the groundbreaking ceremony to increase the load capacity of Son La - Viet Tri 220kV transmission line

Some items in the project such as replacing the existing ACSR 400/52 Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced with a composite-core superheater conductor with an aluminum cross-section of 421mm2 or equivalent, especially for the Red River crossing, using a composite-core superheater that strengthened aluminum cross-section 524mm2 or equivalent.

The project is invested to enhance the transmission capacity, contributing to the full capacity releasing of hydropower plants in Son La province, meeting the load growth demand for economic and social development in Son La, Phu Tho and Northern provinces. In addition, the project enhances the safe and stable operation of the national power system.
