At the meeting, the two sides discussed the development of renewable energy in Vietnam, the connection of renewable energy sources to the national electricity system; EVN's plan on promoting the development of renewable energy and reducing gas generation in the coming time to fulfill its commitments at COP26.

Mr. Jochen Flasbarth - Secretary of State of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development shared his experience in developing renewable energy in Germany. He also expressed his impression of renewable energy development in Vietnam.
Mr. Jochen Flasbarth also said that the development of energy in Vietnam should be taken into account the rationality in the structure of different types of power sources.
At the meeting, Mr. Vo Quang Lam - Deputy General Director of EVN shared about the characteristics of Vietnam's power system, as well as the difficulties and challenges in operating renewable energy in the country.

Implementing energy transition, EVN is currently implementing power generation projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions such as: expanding existing hydropower plants (Hoa Binh expansion project, Ialy expansion project, Tri An expansion project). At the same time, the following shall be implemented: building solar power plants: Phuoc Thai 2 and 3 with a total installed capacity of 150MW; studying the potential development of a wind power plant project offshore the Gulf of Tonkin, and so on.
