The 220 kV Hoa Khanh substation (Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Cam Le district, Da Nang City) has been put into operation since 1999, originally equipped with two 110 kV - 25 MVA transformers and two 220 kV - 125 MVA transformers. Recently, the Hoa Khanh substation has been regularly operated in full load and even overload condition.
To ensure power supply for the loads, especially the uninterrupted power supply for the Hoa Khanh industrial zone, the National Power Transmission Corporation invested over VND 53.4 billion and assigned PTC2 to implement the Hoa Khanh substation capacity upgrading project. The project was designed by the Power Construction Joint Stock Company No. 5 and constructed by the Maintenance and Testing Team. The Da Nang Transmission Division supervised, took over and have operated the project.
The project scope consists of replacement of the existing 220 kV - 125 MVA transformer with the 220 kV 250 MVA transformer manufactured by Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Manufacturing Company; replacement, renovation and installation of the related equipment in conformity with the new transformer.
After completion, the capacity of the substation upgraded from 300 MVA to 425 MVA could enhance the transmission capacity to meet power demand for socio-economic development of the region in general and Hoa Khanh industry zone in particular. The implementation of this project is consistent with the power grid development plan of Da Nang city from now up to year 2020.
