EVNCPC has officially sold power to Laos since 8 August, 1998 through Lao Bao International Border Gate (Quang Tri Province), supplied power to Savannakhet Province. The scale of power supply gradually increases as per the demand on power of Laos. By August 2018, EVNCPC has sold power to Laos through five border gates in four provinces: Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum; supplied power to 4 provinces of Laos: Savanakhet, Salavan, Sekong, Attapu.
Since 2016, EDL has put a 110kV substation in Savannakhet Province into operation, meeting most of the demand for on-site power use, power output traded through the Lao Bao international border gate has therefore sharply decreased (while the same at other points of power trading has remained stable).
At the Conference, the two sides commit to further cooperate and share experiences in fields of technique, customer services, electricity trading, applying science as well as technology in the coming time.
