The meeting between the US Trade Delegation and EVN
Speaking at the meeting, EVN’s Chairman Duong Quang Thanh said that the growth rate of electricity demand in Vietnam in recent years has averaged about 10% per year. The installed capacity of the whole system has increased from 20,600MW (in 2011) to 76,700MW (in 2021).
Following the commitment at the COP26 conference on climate change, the Government of Vietnam has been gradually transitioning from conventional energy sources to new energy sources to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

In that direction, in the future, EVN and US organizations and businesses can promote cooperation in such areas as developing energy storage systems (BESS), carbon capture, developing projects to transit to clean energy, etc.
Mr. Stephen Jacques - Acting Commercial Counselor of the US Embassy in Vietnam, thanked the Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors for providing valuable information and expressed his wish to promote a good cooperation relationship to jointly realize the energy transition in Vietnam.

On this occasion, representatives of many US businesses such as Bloom Energy, Energy Global, NuScale Power, UPC Renewable Energy, etc. informed EVN about their prospects and potential areas in which the parties can cooperate bilaterally or multilaterally.
In the past time, EVN has received a lot of support from the US Trade Development Agency (USTDA) and US businesses in the application of information technology; building smart grids; studying the use of energy storage systems; energy transition, etc.
EVN and the US Trade Delegation agreed to continue to discuss, strengthen the relationship and promote cooperation opportunities in the coming time.
