At the meeting, Mr. Nobuyuki Ichihara said: JWA is a public service organization established by the Government of Japan in 1962. JWA is managing 46 reservoir-forming dams (mostly large reservoirs), 5 river banks, 21 canals, and 2 natural reservoirs to supply water for 42 million people and 210,000 ha of cultivated area.

Recently, JWA has promoted international cooperation activities and implemented foreign projects related to water resource management. In which, JWA wishes to organize a workshop on dam safety in Vietnam, expected in February 2023 in Hanoi. JWA also wishes to introduce solutions to reduce floods and improve power generation efficiency.

Mr. Pham Hong Phuong said that EVN is very interested in improving the operational efficiency of hydropower plants, especially in the context of the strong development of renewable energy sources in Vietnam in recent years. Leaders of EVN requested JWA to continue to study and understand the hydropower system in Vietnam, and the provisions of Vietnamese law on investment, construction, management, and operation of hydropower plants so that the two sides can cooperate if appropriate.
