
The Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant Project (comprising four units with a total capacity of 1,200MW) is included in the list of nationally important projects and key energy-sector projects, as approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 2634/QD-TTg dated 2 December 2025. The project is managed by EVNPMB3 on behalf of EVN as the investor, with a total investment of VND 21,101 billion, and is being implemented in two phases. The project is currently under construction in Phase 2 – Stage 1, which includes the following components: the energy conveyance system, auxiliary tunnels for tunneling works, construction and operation access roads, and site leveling for the 500kV switchyard. Phase 2 – Stage 2 of the project is scheduled to commence in September 2026, comprising the following works: the upper reservoir complex, the 500kV switchyard, the on-site office area of the Project Management Board (Phase 2), and the remaining construction and operation access roads. At the construction site, the working delegation inspected major tunneling works of the project, including Tunnel VH3A, the power cable and ventilation tunnel, the construction–operation tunnel, and the air supply tunnel.

During the visit, Mr. Dang Hoang An, Chairman of EVN Board of Directors Dang Hoang An and members of the delegation also met with and encouraged contractors working on site.
Following the site inspection, the EVN Chairman and the delegation held a meeting with EVNPMB3 and representatives of the contractors to review the overall construction progress of the project.
