The successful energization of the main transformer to supply power for the commissioning of the generating unit No 1of the Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant Project achieved the progress set by Vietnam Electricity and was one of the most important reprequisites for ensuring the progress of the unit No 1 in particular and the progress of the whole project in general, contributing to complete the whole project in early 2018.
The project was built in Vinh Tan commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan Province. The project was owned and invested by the Vietnam Electricity. It was one of the key projects of the Government. The project officially started on March 9, 2014 consisting of 2 generating units with total capacity of 1200 MW. This is the first coal-fired thermal power plant project of a large-scale using supercritical technology having been built in Vietnam. The Vietnamese consulting company chaired the design of the project. The localization ratio of the project was high (26%), ... The power plant will be connected to the national power system through the 500 kV transmission grid. This project marked a new step of development of the power industry in Vietnam.
Upon completed, the power plant will annually supply an energy of 7.2 billion kWh to the power system, contributing to ensure power supply for socio-economic development of Binh Thuan Province in particular and the Southern provinces in general.
