Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant is the first large scale one using Supper Critical Parameters in Vietnam. Technology applied in the project is high efficiency conventional condensing one with Supper Critical Parameters. The state-of-the-art firing method is suitable with good quality imported coal, meeting strict requirements about readiness, efficiency, stability, safety. By applying modern technology to mitigate environmental pollution, such as dust filter, reduction of NOx, removal of SOx, and treatment of waste water, the project will meet Vietnamese and international criterial for environmental protection.
The project will be connected to the national network through a 500kV synchronized grid. After its operation the project will help prevent power deficiency for the Southern region after 2017. The project will also help to reduce grid dependency to hydropower source, especially in dry seasons and dry years; reduce amount of power dispatched from the North to the South; reduce power losses; and increase safety, stability, and economics of grid operation.
