Continuing a series of inspections of power transmission grid projects in Vietnam's Northwest region, invested in by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Vice President Pham Hong Phuong inspected the construction sites of the Dien Bien 220kV Substation and the Son La – Dien Bien 220kV Transmission Line in Dien Bien Province on the morning of October 22.

At the construction site of the  Dien Bien 220kV Substation in Thanh Minh Commune, EVN Vice President Pham Hong Phuong instructed the contractor to immediately mobilize at least 20 additional construction workers and organize simultaneous construction activities at multiple work fronts to accelerate the completion of the remaining works.

Dien Bien 220kV Substation project involves the installation of two 125MVA transformers. According to a report by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), civil construction works have fallen behind schedule due to prolonged heavy rainfall in Dien Bien. In addition, the excavated soil used for backfilling and leveling the lower substation yard has retained a high moisture content, prolonging the compaction process. EVN Vice President Pham Hong Phuong instructed the project management board to work with the contractor's management to review the workload for each construction component and determine the required workforce and mobilization schedule. Construction management must be detailed for each work area, specifying the number of workers per shift and working hours.

EVN delegation subsequently conducted an on-site inspection at Tower Location 168 in Quai To Commune, part of the Son La – Dien Bien 220kV Transmission Line Project. This project is also behind its implementation schedule. To date, tower foundations have been completed at only 267/309 locations, while conductor stringing has been completed in 19/138 tension sections.

EVN Vice President Pham Hong Phuong and the delegation inspect construction activities at Tower Location 168. According to EVNNPT, both the Dien Bien 220kV Substation and the Son La – Dien Bien 220kV Transmission Line are expected to be energized in the first quarter of 2027.
