Vietnam and Russia to Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Energy

Within the official visit to Russia from 28 June to 1 July 2017, President Tran Dai Quang and President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin proposed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of priority, including the energy sector.

Heads of State of the two countries agreed to continue cooperation to build Nuclear Scientific and Technology Center in Vietnam, advocating the consistent implementation of the cooperation programme between Vietnam and Russia in the field of using nuclear energy to the purpose of peace signed on 23 May 2017 in Hanoi.

The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in the field of electrical energy, particularly the participation of Russian companies in the modernization of the energy facilities that were built with the assistance of the former Soviet Union and in the construction of the new facilities in Vietnam.
