Unprecedented Challenges
The three key works completed by EVN in 2025 (Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion, Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line, and the work to supply power from the national grid to the Con Dao Special Economic Zone), although different in type, technical objectives, and implementation area, are "similar" because of the seemingly insurmountable challenges.

As a result, all projects have met and surpassed the schedule set by the Government. In particular, the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project was completed 8 months ahead of schedule, as approved by the Government. The project to supply power to the Con Dao Special Economic Zone was significantly accelerated, with the entire line energized on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd, ahead of the initial plan for operationalization in 2026.
Creating momentum for next phase
2025 is also the second consecutive year that EVN's investment and construction work has surpassed the plan. Disbursement value reached VND 125,778 billion, an increase of 14.7% compared to 2024, thereby establishing the highest disbursement level among state-owned corporations and affirming EVN's leading role in the development of national energy infrastructure.

Regarding the power generation sector, EVN continues to promote key works such as: Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant (1,403MW) expected to be synchronized to the grid in Q1/2026; Quang Trach II LNG Project (1,500MW) expected to start construction in Q1/2026; Quang Trach III LNG Project (1,500MW) expected to start construction in Q4/2026; The Vietnam Electricity (EVN) will continue to implement the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Project, the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, and several other hydropower expansion projects according to the approved plan.
Parallel to the development of power sources, the task of investing in the power grid in 2026 is set with higher requirements in terms of scale and synchronization, aiming to complete 300 projects and commence 285 power grid projects ranging from 110kV to 500kV. EVN will continue to focus on implementing projects to relieve the capacity of power plants, strengthen system interconnection, and improve the reliability of power supply to major load centers.
Building on the achievements of 2025, Vietnam Electricity enters 2026 - the beginning of a new phase -with a more proactive mindset, contributing to national energy security and supporting the country’s goal of rapid and sustainable development.
