EVN discusses with PVN about gas supply for power generation in 2024

On 26 October 2024 in Hanoi, leaders of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) had a meeting on gas supply for power generation in 2024 and cooperative activities between the two parties.

On EVN's side, the meeting was attended by Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - EVN’s President and CEO, Mr. Ngo Son Hai - Vice President of EVN, and leaders of specialized departments and member units.

On PVN's side, the meeting was attended by Mr. Le Manh Hung - President and CEO of PVN; member of the Board of Directors of Pham Tuan Anh and Nguyen Van Mau; Vice President of PVN Phan Tu Giang, leaders of specialized departments and member units.

EVN and PVN leaders basically agreed that there will be a framework agreement for gas supply for power generation in 2024 as well as the coming period.

Leaders of both sides also discussed specifically the operation and power purchase contracts (PPA) of PVN's Song Hau 1, Vung Ang 1, Ca Mau, Nhon Trach, and Thai Binh 2 thermal power plants. In particular, EVN required PVN and member units to ensure the stable operation of thermal power units; and ensure coal and gas fuel for Song Hau 1 and Vung Ang 1, Ca Mau, and Nhon Trach power plants, especially during the 2024 dry season.

Regarding ongoing projects such as Nhon Trach 3, Nhon Trach 4, Block B - O Mon, and Blue Whale, the two sides discussed connection issues, PPAs, terms related to variable prices, long-term contract output, operation principles of O Mon power plants to ensure off-take gas consumption...
