EVN leadership works with Ninh Thuan province on power supply situation

On May 13, in Ninh Thuan, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its affiliated units had a working session with the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan Province on electricity supply, investment, and construction of power projects in the province.

The average growth of power sales in Ninh Thuan province was 7.85%/year in the period 2016-2020, and 9.6%/year in the period 2021-2023. In 2023, the power sales reached 0.88 billion kWh, an increase of 10.79% compared to 2022.

In the first 4 months of 2024, the aggregate power sales of the whole province was 293.954 million kWh, an increase of 18.26% over the same period in 2023. Ninh Thuan is one of the localities with high electricity consumption growth among 21 provinces and cities in the region where EVNSPC manages electricity supply.

The total installed capacity in Ninh Thuan province is 3,290MW. Currently, Ninh Thuan province is powered by four 220kV substations (with a total capacity of 1,751MVA). 220kV transmission lines operate at an average load of 70-90% and at some times when renewable energy generation is high, some transmission lines carry high loads.

Regarding construction investment activities, recently, with the support and collaboration of Ninh Thuan province, EVN, and its affiliated units have put into operation and are implementing investment in many grid projects according to the master plan.

Local authorities’ cooperation is needed.

EVN kindly requested the Provincial People's Committee to support the power sector in communicating with and encouraging local people, businesses, and public offices to use electricity economically and effectively according to the Prime Minister's direction in Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023, contributing to ensuring electricity supply during the peak hot months of 2024. Enhancing widespread communication among the people about the responsibility to protect the safety of high-voltage power grid projects; Issuing more stringent sanctions for violations of the high-voltage grid safety corridor in the province.
