The Kien Binh - Phu Quoc 220kV transmission line has a total investment of over VND 2,221 billion. The line consists of a total length of 80.4km, 169 pole positions. The sea section alone is 64.7km long with 117 column positions. The columns offshore are designed with pre-stressed precast centrifugal concrete piles with salinity-proof, by special design, first implemented in Vietnam.
Being synchronous with the project of Kien Binh - Phu Quoc 220kV transmission line in phase 1 are the works: South Phu Quoc 110kV transformer station (capacity 2x63MVA, one unit installed in the first phase) and the connection line from the South Phu Quoc 110kV transformer substation to the Kien Binh - Phu Quoc 220kV transmission line.
Leaders of EVNSPC and local authorities performing the energizing ceremony to operate the 110kV voltage supply for the Kien Binh - Phu Quoc 220kV transmission line work
Starting from March 2019 to October 5, 2022, the project has completed energizing phase 1, put into operation safely and with high quality.
The Kien Binh - Phu Quoc 220kV transmission line is the longest 220kV sea-crossing transmission line in Southeast Asia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc - General Director of EVNSPC said that the Kien Binh - Phu Quoc 220kV transmission line has completed energizing and operating at 110kV voltage, contributing to improving the quality of power supply in Phu Quoc city; increasing the reliability of power supply, reducing power loss, promptly balancing the load for the existing 110kV underground cable line operating at high load. Especially, when the project comes into operation, it will increase the power supply capacity for Phu Quoc Island by about 5 times as high as the current load and can meet the power supply until 2035.
The completion of the project is expected to create important conditions for the locality to strongly develop in socio-economic development, especially to meet the needs for the tourism recovery in Phu Quoc after the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to maintaining national security, defense and sovereignty over the sacred sea and islands of the fatherland.
According to Mr. Huynh Quang Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City, Phu Quoc city considers this to be the work of the century, which is very important to the development strategy of Phu Quoc city. "On behalf of the leaders and people of Phu Quoc city, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Electricity Sector, and EVNSPC for focusing on investing in projects to ensure power supply for the strong development needs of Phu Quoc, especially for tourism, daily life and services,” said Mr. Huynh Quang Hung.
