The 500kV line, circuit 3, is a national key project, assigned by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) as the investor, the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) shall undertake the management of the project on behalf of the investor. The project was commenced in December 2018, including 3 component projects: Quang Trach - Vung Ang 500kV transmission line and 500kV distribution yard of Quang Trach Power Center; Quang Trach - Doc Soi 500kV transmission line; Doc Soi - Pleiku 2 500kV transmission line. The scale of construction of the 500kV dual-circuit transmission line from Vung Ang to Pleiku 2 is nearly 742km long, passing through 9 provinces and cities.
The completed 500kV line project, circuit 3, helps to improve transmission capacity and release renewable energy sources in the area.
The 500kV transmission line, circuit 3, after being completed, is expected to contribute to enhancing the 500kV grid transmission capacity of the national power system; releasing the capacity of thermal power and renewable energy sources in the region; contributing to ensuring power supply for Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Da Nang and surrounding provinces.
“In particular, the completion of the 500kV line, circuit 3 (with 2 lines) helps Vietnam's power system to have 4 500kV circuits from North to South, doubling the North-South power transmission capacity. In addition, the assurance of power supply and safety for the system will increase many times compared to before," said Mr. Pham Le Phu - EVNNPT General Director.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuyen - CPMB Director said: Vung Ang and Quang Trach 1 thermal power projects (under construction) and later Quang Trach 2 thermal power as well as thermal power plants in Quang Tri will also be put on the 500kV line, circuit 3. Along with that, renewable energy sources in the region are also put on the 500kV line, circuit 3, to supply power back to the North in the event of difficulties in power supply in the North. It, thereby, shows the foresight of the Electricity sector in ensuring the power transmission infrastructure is one step ahead to ensure national energy security.

+ Building 3 new fiber optic repeater stations and 3 operating houses of power transmission team.
