Releasing over 24,500 fingerlings into Song Tranh 2 hydropower reservoir

On the morning of February 27, Song Tranh Hydropower Company, in coordination with the People's Committee of Bac Tra My District (Quang Nam Province), organized the 10th program to release fingerlings into the Song Tranh 2 hydropower reservoir in 2025.

On this occasion, Song Tranh Hydropower Company released over 24,500 fingerlings, including grass carp and silver carp, into the Song Tranh 2 hydropower reservoir.

Mr. Tran Nam Trung, Director of Song Tranh Hydropower Company, stated that this is an annual program aimed at replenishing aquatic resources, promoting biodiversity conservation, protecting the environment, and creating sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minority communities in Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My districts.

Through 10 fingerling-releasing programs, a total of over 775,000 fingerlings have been released, at an estimated cost of approximately VND 550 million. In reality, the released fingerlings in the reservoir have shown strong growth, leading to an increasing catch volume. Many species, such as grass carp and silver carp, have been thriving well.

On this occasion, Song Tranh Hydropower Company donated an additional 210 backpacks to underprivileged students with strong academic performance in Bac Tra My District.

Additionally, in 2024, the company provided VND 240 million to support the construction and renovation of gratitude houses for poor households in Bac Tra My District. Moreover, on behalf of Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1) under Vietnam Electricity (EVN), the company also granted VND 360 million to build six houses for poor Ca Dong ethnic households, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2025.

The Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Plant officially came into operation in 2011. To date, both generating units continue to operate safely and stably, making a significant contribution to the national power supply. The total electricity output transmitted to the grid has reached 8.8 billion kWh, with 683.68 million kWh generated in 2024 alone, marking the fifth time the plant has surpassed its designed capacity. Additionally, the company has ensured water storage at the end of the flood season to support power generation plans and supply water for downstream areas in Quang Nam province and Da Nang City in 2025.
