EVN’s President and CEO engages with Asian Development Bank for enhanced collaboration

On May 31 in Hanoi, The President and CEO of EVN Nguyen Anh Tuan engaged in a productive meeting with a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) National Program. The delegation, led by Ron H.Slangen, the Deputy Country Director of ADB in Vietnam, focused on discussing potential areas of cooperation between the two entities.

The ADB delegation included Mr. Au Minh Tuan, Senior Project Officer (Energy); Mr. Vu Quang Đang, National Energy Consultant; and Senior Energy Economist Ms. Hyunjung Lee, along with Energy Specialist Ayato Kurokawa, who participated online.

During the meeting, Mr. Ron H. Slangen – the Deputy Country Director of ADB praised the solid collaborative relationship that has developed between EVN and ADB over the years.

The Deputy Country Director of ADB in Vietnam outlined future cooperation possibilities, such as EVN's grid development and electricity storage initiatives, the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM), the Pilot Battery Storage Power Station (BESS) Project, the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Project, the Energy Service Company (ESCO) model, and various technical support programs.

On behalf of Vietnam Electricity, the EVN President and CEO Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan expressed deep appreciation to the Asian Development Bank for its invaluable contributions and support to EVN. The President and CEO of EVN acknowledged the ADB's pivotal role in facilitating the preparation and investment needed to develop Vietnam's electricity power infrastructure through ODA funding, Ordinary Capital Resources(OCR) funding, and technical assistance.

The EVN President and CEO acknowledged and appreciated ADB's proposals presented during the meeting. The President and CEO strongly desires continued collaboration with ADB, particularly in supporting EVN's efforts in energy storage research and development, Pilot Battery Storage Power Station projects, energy transition initiatives, sector-specific lending models, and providing technical assistance as required.
