At the recent National Online Conference of the Standing Government on promoting public investment in 2024, the Prime Minister recognized, praised, and highly appreciated the results that ministries, branches, and localities have made efforts and achieved; Especially, Vietnam Electricity has many public investment projects that are ahead of schedule, making important contributions to socio-economic development in recent times.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment said that the disbursement rate of public investment capital in the first 6 months of the country reached 29.39% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister (nearly VND200 trillion). The units with high disbursement numbers are the Ministry of Transport, Hanoi City; Ho Chi Minh City. On the business side, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has made great efforts to deploy the 500kV line, circuit 3, from Quang Trach to Pho Noi.
In the first 6 months of 2024, EVN's construction investment work has achieved many positive results. The disbursement value of investment capital across the Group is estimated at VND40,502 billion, equal to 39.7% of the plan, up 35.9% over the same period in 2023 and higher than the national average public investment capital disbursement rate (29.39%).

To achieve this result, in recent times, EVN has focused on effectively implementing many key power source and power grid projects. Specifically, regarding power sources, the Group continues to focus on constructing 3 key projects, of which, the Ialy Hydropower Extension Project is expected to complete the power generation by the end of 2024; Hoa Binh Hydropower Expansion Plant is expected to be completed in 2025; Particularly, the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant project is expected to complete commercial power generation in 2026, however, EVN has directed units to plan and focus on implementation, striving to connect and energize it to the power generation grid before September 2, 2025, under the direction of the Prime Minister. In addition, EVN is also urgently completing investment procedures and arranging capital to start construction in 2024 of the expanded Tri An Hydropower and Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower projects.
Regarding the power grid, in the first 6 months of 2024, EVN started 47 projects and completed 57 110-500kV power grid projects.

In particular, implementing the Prime Minister's direction, EVN/EVNNPT has focused all resources on implementing the 500kV circuit-3 line project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, achieving many positive results. Up to now, the Project has created miracles in the investment and construction of power transmission grids and has been praised by the Prime Minister many times at meetings and received many letters of praise. Specifically, EVN/EVNNPT has energized 02 component projects including Thanh Hoa 500kV Transformer Station, Nam Dinh 1 Thermal Power Plant - Thanh Hoa 500kV Line; energized 02 500kV bay expansion items at Pho Noi 500kV transformer stations and Quang Trach Thermal Power 500kV distribution yard. Currently, EVNNPT and its units are making efforts to mobilize all forces to construct the remaining work volume and complete technical inspection and acceptance procedures to energize the entire project following the Prime Minister's direction.
At the same time, EVN is focusing on investing in power grid projects connected to import power from Laos such as Nam Sum - Nong Cong 220kV line, Dak Ooc switching station, Monsoon - Thanh My 500kV line, striving to be completed by the end of 2024. In addition, the Group is also striving to commence the Project of Power Supply from the national grid for Con Dao district by the end of 2024, and so on.
In spite of many difficulties and challenges ahead, Vietnam Electricity has been making maximum efforts to ensure power supply to serve socio-economic development and people's lives.
