Investment priority is given to the power generation and network.
In Danang city, the alternatives to ensure power supply serving the APEC Summit 2017 are urgently implemented by the subsidiaries of EVN. Mr. Nguyen Huu Khanh - the head of technical department of the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) said, from the year 2015, EVNCPC as well as the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and Da Nang Single Member Limited Liability Power Company (Danang PC) has synchronously implemented many power projects with total investment over VND 1,107 billion. As of July 2017, the units completed 7 projects of 110-220 kV and 2 projects of medium voltage. .

With some remaining projects such as 110 kV Ngu Hanh Son substation and connection, the network upgrading of the coastal roads of Son Tra district, 22 kV power network along Nguyen Tat Thanh St. and Thuan Phuoc bridge area, CPC and Da Nang PC have made great effort together with relating organization and construction contractors to remove obstacle and speed up the progress to energize the projects serving the APEC Summit before 31 August 2017, two months before the happening of the event.
In addition to the speeding up the progress of the projects, EVNCPC, Da Nang PC and EVNNPT pay attention to patrol and inspection of the lines and substations, strictly follow operational procedures, check and fix the defects in order not to have faults due to operators.
Ready to implement different scenarios
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Khanh, the general principle to supply power for the APEC 2017 is that each location of the event will be supplied by 3 power sources: 2 main sources from the power grid and one standby source from diesel and UPS.
In particular, at Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort (Intercontinental Resort) - the location where the opening and closing sessions of the APEC Summit 2017 take place, the hot standby generator will be provided and the automatic transfer switches (ATS) will be put in automatic mode to make sure of no power interruption, even a second.
APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week: Expected to take place from 5 to 11 November 2017, of which the most important event is the Summit attended by leaders of the 21 APEC member economies and thousands of official delegates, journalists and the world leading businesses. |
In order to have good quality standby power supply, EVNCPC and Danang PC regularly collaborating with the Industry and Trade Department of Danang city worked with the organizers of APEC Summit to review, survey and set up different options to supplement standby generators and UPS. By July 2017, the installation of UPS basically meets the required schedule.
However, according to Mr. Vo Hoa - Deputy Director of Danang PC, although all the options of supplying power are available, November is the month of rain and storm in Central Vietnam and in Danang, the operation and management of the power grid will encounter difficulties. To deal with this situation, the Da Nang PC has practiced assumed situations for fault shooting and at the same time prepared sufficient material, equipment and raw materials to ensure fixing faults in a quickest manner if faults occur.
In addition, during APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week, EVNCPC and Danang PC will have leaders on duty, troubleshooting and repair on 24 per 24 hours basis.
In parallel with preparation of power supply for APEC 2017 in Danang city, EVNCPC has also deployed investment to ensure power supply in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces serving the meetings in the framework of APEC Summit 2017.
General Objective of power supply serving APEC Summit 2017:
- Provide a safe, uninterrupted and good quality power supply for locations of the event.
- Provide a safe and uninterrupted power supply for mass media, and other cultural and performance activities.
- Ensure a good power supply for Danang International Airport serving guests participating the APEC 2017.
