Exchanging experiences to improve the operation performance and quality of thermal power plants

On October 21 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Technical and Operation Department of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) hosted a conference to exchange and share experiences from incidents of thermal power plants in EVN and dissemination of the power plant incident handbook.

Mr. Ta Tuan Anh - Deputy Director of EVN's Technical and Operation Department spoke at the conference

Chairman of this conference, Mr. Ta Tuan Anh - Deputy Director of EVN's Technical and Operation Department said: In recent years, the management and operation of EVN's thermal power plants have made a great evolution. The number and the rate of incidents are both significantly reduced.

According to Mr. Ta Tuan Anh, incidents can be caused by: the gradually degrading quality of the equipment; quality of input fuels for power generation sometimes fails to meet requirements, especially for coal-fired power plants. In addition, there are also subjective reasons from the operating force, as well as the fact that the companies have not analyzed to determine the root causes of incidents, leading to repeated incidents.

At the conference, Mr. Ta Tuan Anh suggested that coal-fired power plant management companies need to complete their systems of processes and regulations to better fit operating conditions in the new situation, proactively make additional processes in accordance with the current plant status, keep improving the quality of human resources, strengthen equipment management and apply RCM method in repair and maintenance.

Delegates attending the conference

The companies should strengthen the management of input fuel quality; carefully analyze to find root causes which will be regularly updated to EVN's PMIS software to disseminate to other companies to learn from it.
