Thac Ba 2 Hydropower Investment Joint Stock Company (TBC2) has 3 shareholders, namely Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2, and Electromechanical Joint Stock Company.
Thac Ba 2 hydropower plant is built on Chay river, being a hydropower cascade step adjacent to the downstream of the existing Thac Ba hydropower plant, located in Thac Ba town and Han Da, Vinh Kien communes (Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province) and My Bang commune (Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province).
The project aims to optimally exploit natural energy resources, adding power generation capacity to the national power system. The project also creates jobs for local people, contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supports the regional road system.

The project has a design capacity of 18.9MW, the full supply level is at an altitude of 23m. It is scheduled to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. The average amount of electricity output is about 70.2 million kWh/year.
