The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project aims to transmit the energy output of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national grid; creating strong connections among regions in the power system, increasing the safe and stable operation of the national power system.
The project also intends to reduce power loss on the transmission grid, increase EVN's electricity production and business efficiency, and serve as a standby for the need to import electricity from China.
The project is located in the provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc.
The project scale includes the construction of a new double-circuit Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line, with a length of about 228.92km; expanding 02 new 500kV feeder compartments at the 500kV Vinh Yen substation going to the 500kV Lao Cai substation.
The total investment cost of the project is about VND 7,010.74 billion, of which: the total project investment cost before tax is about VND 6,495.53 billion, including an equity of about VND 1,299.11 billion, accounting for 20% of the total project investment cost before tax and commercial loans of about VND 5,196.42 billion, accounting for 80% of the total project investment cost before tax.
The operation lifetime of the project: minimum 40 years (from the date of investment policy and investor approval decision).
Project implementation schedule: starting in December 2025, construction period within 6 months, striving to complete energization and put the project into operation in May 2026.
Decision No. 1274/QD-TTg also clearly states the responsibilities of relevant agencies and organizations in project implementation.
Decision No. 1274/QD-TTg takes effect from the date of signing.
