Son La Hydropower Plant reaches an output of 100 billion kWh

At 4:15 on April 21, Son La Hydropower Plant (SLHP) reached the milestone of generating 100 billion kWh of power to the national power grid, making an important contribution to Vietnam  Electricity (EVN) in power supply for the socio-economic development of the country.

The output of 100 billion kWh of SLHP presents a proud achievement made by the collective of Son La Hydropower Company (SLHC); the motivation for the company to continue to unite, be creative, and complete all assigned tasks, and join EVN in carrying out the mission of "Lighting up the Beliefs".

SLHP along with Lai Chau Hydropower Plant are two hydropower plants in the list of Key Works related to national security, managed by SLHC.

For 6 units with a total installed capacity of 2,400MW and flexible operation, in addition to supplying large power output to the power system, SLHP also plays an important role in adjusting frequency and voltage to balance the power system, especially in the context that renewable energy accounts for a large proportion today. SLHP has also played an extremely important role in coordinating with hydropower reservoirs in the Song Da basin to regulate reservoirs, ensuring flood control for the Northern Delta.

Mr. Khuong The Anh - Director of SLHC said: To achieve the above output, over the years, the company has closely coordinated with the National Load Dispatch Center to safely and effectively operate the plant, exploit and regulate the reservoir according to the correct process. In particular, the availability factor of the units reached the highest level among the hydropower plants under EVN.

The company has synchronously implemented many measures in technical management and operation, in order to reduce the proportion of self-used electricity in production, ensuring that the rate of self-used electricity is lower than the target assigned by EVN. The company also implemented well the plan for the maintenance and repair of equipment and construction works, ensuring the safety and reliability of the units, equipment systems and works. The large-scale repair and overhaul of the units were carried out ahead of schedule, shortening the downtime for repair, and bringing high economic efficiency. Hydropower governance continues to be strengthened and has brought effective results.
