The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced activities in response to the Earth Hour 2023 Campaign

On March 18, at Dinh Tien Hoang pedestrian street (Hanoi), the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized a ceremony to announce activities in response to and launched a Race for the Earth Hour 2023 campaign.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An delivered the opening speech. In 2023, within the framework of the National Energy Efficiency Program for the period of 2019 - 2030 (VNEEP3 Program), the Ministry of Industry and Trade hosts the Earth Hour campaign with the message "Saving electricity – Make it a habit”, in order to further raise people's awareness of energy saving and environmental protection.

Also according to Deputy Minister Dang Hoang An, "Saving electricity – Make it a habit" is also the message of the Electricity Saving Program in the period of 2020 - 2025, in the realization of Directive 20 of the Prime Minister. With this message, the Ministry of Industry and Trade wishes all people, communities and businesses nationwide to join hands to protect the environment, save energy, save electricity, towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 according to Vietnam's pledge at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Kristina Bunde - Head of the Cooperation Department, Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, shared that Vietnam has been committed to net zero emissions by 2050. To achieve this goal, the energy sector will need to be transformed. The European Union stands ready to support Vietnam in its journey toward a clean, green and sustainable future. Saving energy and using it wisely and efficiently is at the heart of the European Union's support.

At the ceremony, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced activities to respond to the Earth Hour 2023 campaign, including the Earth Hour campaign online knowledge contest; switching off lights for 60 minutes in response to Earth Hour; the Race for Earth Hour 2023, along with communication activities, energy saving commitments of organizations and businesses across the country.

More than 1,000 professional and amateur athletes participated in the Race for Earth Hour 2023

Within the framework of the program, a Race for Earth Hour 2023 has been launched by the Office of the Steering Committee for Energy Efficiency in collaboration with the Industry and Trade Magazine.

Responding to Earth Hour 2023, since the beginning of March, Vietnam Electricity has requested its member units to upload information communicating electricity saving and environmental protection on websites, social networks Facebook, and Zalo... throughout March. Power corporations and power companies in provinces and cities organize communication activities on electricity saving and environmental protection; displaying logos and slogans on electricity saving at transaction locations, and headquarters of member units. At the same time, they have been mobilizing organizations, businesses and customers to switch off redundant lights and electrical appliances at Earth Hour from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 25, 2023. The National Load Dispatch Center monitors and aggregates data on electricity-saving implementation right after the Earth Hour light switch-off time.

EVN’s employees are also called and encouraged to actively participate in activities organized by the Office of the Steering Committee for Energy Efficiency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in response to the Earth Hour 2023 campaign.
