The Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has surpassed many important targets in 2024; led and directed the Group to ensure sufficient electricity supply for socio-economic development and people's daily life.

Excelled at implementing political tasks

In 2024, EVN ensured a safe and stable electricity supply in the context of very high electricity demand growth thanks to the constantly recovering economy, ensuring sufficient electricity supply for socio-economic development and people's daily lives.

By the end of 2024, the power system's total installed capacity (with COD being recognized) reached about 82,400MW, an increase of about 1,500MW compared to 2023. The scale of Vietnam's power system ranks first in the ASEAN region in terms of power capacity.

EVN has closely coordinated with the National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) to strictly implement the directions of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade and has proactively implemented many solutions to properly dispatch power sources, safely operated the power system and the electricity market to ensure power supply for socio-economic development, especially ensuring power supply in the Northern region.

Regarding fuel supply for power generation, EVN had closely collaborated with Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), Dong Bac Corporation, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN)/Vietnam Gas Corporation (PVGas) to ensure fuel supply to meet the actual operation needs of power plants.

According to EVN’s President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan, the Group's entire power sales in 2024 reached 276.4 billion kWh, an increase of 9.24% compared to 2023. EVN requested their member units to strictly, drastically, and effectively implement electricity saving, and thoroughly apply all measures to use electricity economically and effectively. The total saved electricity output of power corporations in 2024 reached about 6.51 billion kWh, equivalent to 2.46% of the power sales.

Regarding business activities, EVN continued to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation to improve service quality and diversify electricity services to meet the increasing requirements of customers and society. In which: 100% of electricity services are provided online at level 4 at the National Public Service Portal, Public Administration Centers, and Public Service Portals of provinces/cities. EVN also maintained its efforts to take over power grids and develop them in rural, mountainous, and island areas.

The performance of construction investment activities also achieved many remarkable results. The Group and their member units made great efforts and proposed many solutions to well implement goals and tasks according to the assigned plan, including some outstanding results such as completing the 500kV third circuit line from Quang Trach to Pho Noi on schedule as assigned by the Prime Minister, completing the Ialy Hydropower Plant expansion project. The Group promptly put into operation many power grid projects to ensure power supply during the peak dry season months of 2024 and prepare for power supply in 2025. The value of investment capital disbursement reached VND 112,892 billion, 10.8% higher than the planned figure, etc.

In addition, digital transformation activities further brought about high efficiency in many fields. Training and human resource development were associated with promoting research, development, and application of science and technology, promoting innovation. The business rearrangement had many positive changes, including the transfer of the National Power Dispatch Center to be under the Ministry of Industry and Trade,... EVN actively implemented solutions to improve corporate governance capacity under the Project to improve corporate governance capacity in the Group until 2025, with a vision to 2030; basically completed tasks and solutions to improve processes and regulations within the Group.

Some key targets of EVN's 2025 plan:

• Power sales: From 300.9 - 305.6 billion kWh.

• Auxiliary rate of transmission and distribution: not exceeding 6%.

• Electricity supply reliability: The system's average interruption duration per customer per year (SAIDI index) is 300 minutes.

• Labor productivity increases by over 8%.

• Investment capital plan of the entire Group: VND 109,669 billion.

• Ensuring profitable production and business results in 2025.
