On the morning of July 28, 2025, at the launch ceremony of the program to build solar power systems for primary schools in Cuba under the theme “Sun Without Borders,” organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) donated VND 200 million to help improve learning conditions for students in Cuba.

According to the launch message of the “Sun Without Borders” program, Cuba - a country that shares a special, loyal, pure, and rare friendship with Vietnam - is currently facing numerous challenges, including widespread power shortages that negatively affect many aspects of daily life. In the field of education, many schools are unable to maintain normal teaching activities due to power outages, forcing students to study under poor lighting and with minimal facilities.

In response, Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association launched a fundraising initiative to install solar power systems in schools across Cuba. This sustainable and environmentally friendly energy solution ensures a stable, long-term power supply, bringing “light of knowledge” to Cuban students.

Answering the call, EVNHCMC donated VND 200 million to the “Sun Without Borders” program, contributing to the installation of solar power systems in Cuban primary schools. This pioneering support highlights the proactive and responsible role of Ho Chi Minh City’s power sector in international community activities, especially in solidarity with the Cuban people.

At the launch ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, and Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada - Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, praised the special, sincere, and supportive relationship between the two Parties and peoples. They highly appreciated the humanitarian initiative to build solar power systems for Cuban primary schools and expressed gratitude to the sponsors and businesses, including EVNHCMC, for enthusiastically participating and spreading the program’s impact.
