The project is invested in by EVNNPT, with PTC1 assigned to manage, administer, and implement it within the existing Ha Dong 220kV Substation premises (Duong Noi Ward, Hanoi City).

The project scope includes the installation of an AT7 220kV transformer with a capacity of 250MVA, along with related synchronized equipment, in accordance with the technical standards of EVN and EVNNPT. Upon completion of the capacity expansion, the total capacity of the Ha Dong 220kV substation will reach 1,189MVA, comprising four 250MVA transformers and three 63MVA transformers.

The commissioning of transformer AT7 at the Ha Dong 220kV Substation will help strengthen power supply capacity for Hanoi Capital during this year’s hot season, while reducing the load on existing transformers currently operating under full-load and overload conditions. At the same time, the project also facilitates the transfer, replacement, and maintenance of long-operating equipment at other key substations.

The successful energization of the AT7 transformer not only contributes to enhancing the operational capacity of the Ha Dong 220kV Substation but also further demonstrates the efforts of National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), Power Transmission Company No. 1 (PTC1), and related units in implementing comprehensive solutions to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power transmission system. This is also an important solution for meeting Hanoi's increasing electricity demand, especially during the peak hot season of 2026.

Also in the context of hot weather and high load demand, to ensure the safety of the national power system, on 24 May 2026, the National Power System and Market Operation Company (NSMO) mobilized an additional AT1 500kV transformer with a capacity of 600MVA (backup transformer) from the Pho Noi 500kV Substation, thereby increasing the substation's capacity to 2,900MVA.
