Unit 2 of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant successfully achieves first grid synchronization
16:41, 28/09/2026
At 4:45 p.m. on September 28, 2026, Unit 2 of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant was successfully synchronized with the grid for the first time. With this milestone, both units of the plant, with a combined capacity of 1,403MW, have completed their first grid synchronization and generated electricity to the national power system.
According to Power Project Management Board 2 (EVNPMB2), the first grid synchronization of Unit 2 marks an important technical milestone in the commissioning process of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, providing the basis for the next stages of testing and calibration in accordance with the commissioning program.
To achieve this milestone, EVNPMB2, together with the contractor consortium, consultants, engineers, experts, and workers, focused on installation, inspection, calibration, and commissioning of Unit 2’s systems and equipment.

Staff and engineers of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant celebrate successful first grid synchronization of Unit 2.
Previously, on April 12, 2026, Unit 1 of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant was successfully synchronized with the grid for the first time. Following synchronization, Unit 1 continued to undergo important commissioning and adjustment activities. On August 13, 2026, it reached 100% of its rated load, with an actual output of 701.5MW. The unit is currently continuing its testing program toward commercial operation in line with the project schedule.
With the successful first grid synchronization of Unit 2, both units of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant have now generated electricity to the national power system. The project will continue to complete its commissioning and calibration program, as well as the necessary conditions for bringing the units into commercial operation.
Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant Project is invested by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and directly managed by EVNPMB2. The plant consists of two units with a combined capacity of 1,403MW. Once operational, the plant will contribute additional generation capacity to the national power system and help meet electricity demand for socio-economic development.
