The project aims to transmit power imported from Laos into the national power grid, strengthen the transmission grid linkage among regions, and contribute to improving the safe and stable operation of the national power system.

The project includes the construction of a 500kV transmission line from Hoa Binh 2 Switching Station to Tay Hanoi Substation, with a double-circuit structure and a length of approximately 77.4km. The starting point is the 500kV busbar at Hoa Binh 2 Switching Station, and the end point is the 500kV busbar at the Tay Hanoi 500kV Substation.

At the Tay Hanoi 500kV Substation, the project will install two new 500kV transmission line bays to connect to the Hoa Binh Switching Station.

The power line passes through the communes of Lac Luong, An Nghia, An Binh, Dung Tien, Cao Duong, Hop Kim, and Lien Son in Phu Tho province, and the communes of Tran Phu, Quang Bi, Phu Nghia, Kieu Phu, Hung Dao, and Quoc Oai in Hanoi city.

The investment in the Hoa Binh 2 Substation – Tay Hanoi 500kV transmission line project aims to transmit power imported from Laos into the national power grid; at the same time, it creates a loop connection of the transmission grid among regions, increasing the safe and stable operation of the national power system.

The project also contributes to strengthening the stability of power supply to Hanoi and surrounding areas, reducing power and energy losses in the system, and thereby improving the production and business efficiency of Vietnam Electricity.

According to the approved schedule, the project is expected to commence in Q4/2026 and be completed, commissioned, and put into operation in Q4/2027.
