The Nghi Son Economic Zone (Thanh Hoa province) is one of the key national coastal economic zones. With a development orientation towards becoming a multi-sector integrated economic zone, Nghi Son has been attracting many large-scale projects in heavy industry, processing, manufacturing, energy, and high technology.
According to Thanh Hoa Power Company (Thanh Hoa PC), industrial zones 16, 20, 21, and 22 in the Nghi Son Economic Zone have high electricity demand and require high-quality and reliable power supply. Currently, the regional power system is operating at a high load due to the load growth, creating an urgent need for investment, upgrading, and improvement of the power grid to meet the growing demand.

Meeting electricity needs of economic zones and industrial parks is crucial for maintaining growth momentum and enhancing competitiveness in attracting investment.
A series of key power grid projects serving the power supply to this economic zone are being implemented by the Northern Power Corporation and Thanh Hoa Power Company, such as: the Tinh Gia 3 110kV transmission line and substation project (2x63MVA capacity) expected to be commissioned in December 2026; and the 110kV outgoing lines after the Nghi Son Economic Zone 220kV substation expected to be completed in May 2026. These projects are of significant importance in improving power supply capacity and strengthening grid connectivity.
In addition, the power sector is also promoting the application of new technologies, notably the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at the Hoang Long Industrial Park 110kV substation with a capacity of 10MW/20MWh, expected to be completed in Q2/2026. This solution contributes to improving load regulation capabilities, increasing the flexibility and stability of the power system.

Recently, EVNNPC and Thanh Hoa Power Company worked with Thanh Hoa province to review power development plan and agree on plan to ensure power supply.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien, General Director of EVNNPC, Thanh Hoa province has gained a rapid pace of industrial development, especially the Nghi Son Economic Zone, which is a key development area of the province. Thus, the power demand will continue to increase in the coming time. EVNNPC has been proactively developing investment and development plans for the power grid in a synchronized manner, "one step ahead," ensuring that it meets the load demand of industrial parks and economic zones. The Corporation is committed to giving priority to resources and accelerating the progress of power projects; at the same time, it requests the local authorities to continue to cooperate closely in planning, land clearance, and project implementation to ensure investment progress.
