The Viet Tri 500kV Substation (Phu Tho Province) has recently completed the first phase of its capacity upgrade, with the commissioning of the AT3 500kV – 450MVA transformer. This has increased the substation’s total capacity to 1,350MVA, contributing to the enhancement of a stable and reliable electricity supply to support socio-economic development in the region.
On August 4, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB), in coordination with relevant units, energized the project for upgrading the capacity of Viet Tri 500kV Substation (Phu Tho Province). The project is divided into two phases. Phase 1 involves installing a new AT3 500kV – 450MVA transformer, raising the substation’s total capacity to 1,350MVA. Phase 2, to be implemented in the coming years, will upgrade the existing AT2 500kV – 450MVA transformer to 500kV – 900MVA, bringing the substation’s total capacity to 1,800MVA.

The successful energization of the project marks a practical action by EVNNPT and NPTPMB to celebrate the 4th Congress of the Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) for the 2025-2030 term, as well as to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the success of the August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.
