10 years of national power across the sea, Ly Son accelerates continuously

On September 28, 2014, the project of supplying power from the national grid to Ly Son island district (Quang Ngai) by underground cable was officially energized and inaugurated. Time flies! 10 years have passed, and the national grid across the sea has helped the outpost island develop continuously.

Panorama of Ly Son Island

National power crosses the sea, Ly Son shines brightly

On September 8, 2014, the last meters of nearly 27km of underground cables carrying power from Binh Hai commune, Binh Son district to Ly Son island reached the shore. On September 28, 2014, the electricity was officially energized. The transformation of the outpost island has begun.

In the planning of Quang Ngai province for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee determined to build Ly Son into a coastal city. The province especially prioritizes capital investment in infrastructure, aiming to turn Ly Son into a grade-4 urban area (period 2026 - 2030) and soon achieve the criteria of a grade-3 urban area - a unique coastal and island urban area of the province and the whole country in the future.

Ms. Pham Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ly Son district, said, "I am very grateful to the electricity industry for bringing national power to the island. Without grid power, Ly Son district would face difficulty in developing as it is today. The most obvious value of electricity is that the healthcare and education conditions on the island are much different from that in the past."

According to Ms. Pham Thi Huong, thanks to electricity, the attraction of investment is getting easier. The average income on the island is currently VND 37 million /person, a figure that we would not have dared to dream of before 2014.
