In August 2018, the average electricity output reached 629.8 million kWh per day. The highest daily output reached 658.5 million kWh (on August 14, 2018). The peak capacity was 31,321MW (on August 13, 2018).
Aggregating the first eight months of 2018, the total output of the power system achieved 145.15 billion kWh, an increase of 11.2% over the same period of 2017.
Also in August 2018, EVN and its member organizations have been operating the power system in a safe and flexible manner, closely following the weather and hydrological conditions. Although the typhoon No. 4, tropical cyclone and the heavy rain happening late August 2018 caused flooding, inundating, damaging power projects and affecting the supply of electricity in the northern mountainous provinces and the North Central region, EVN and its member organizations have strived to remedy failures, secure safe and reliable electricity supply throughout the country.
The Group has optimized the operation of power generation sources, ensuring electricity supply for the South even when gas supply from Nam Con Son and PM3 was disrupted for repair and maintenance, etc.
It is projected that in September 2018, the average electricity output of the whole system will be about 616.9 million kWh per day; the peak capacity will be 32,000MW. EVN will make optimal exploitation of hydropower – thermal power and ensure the water supply for downstream areas in provinces.
Power plants are required to improve their availability, prepare adequate fuel (coal, oil, etc.), materials, equipment and manpower ready to meet dispatching requests of the National Load Dispatch Center.
In addition, EVN requests its units to operate safely and reliably the transmission grid, especially the North -South 500kV system under the condition of high power transmission for the South.
