Capacity upgrading of Can Tho 220kV substation to 500MVA

On September 25, 2024, the Power Transmission Project Management Board (under the National Power Transmission Corporation) in coordination with relevant units energized the second transformer of Can Tho 220kV substation, thereby increasing the capacity of the substation from 250MVA to 500MVA, helping to ensure power supply for Can Tho city and neighboring areas.

The project of installing the second transformer of Can Tho 220kV substation is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT).

The project is implemented within Can Tho 220kV substation (in Thuong Thanh Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City).

The project scaled the installation of an additional AT1 220kV transformer with a capacity of 250MVA, increasing the substation capacity from 1x250MVA to 2x250MVA. On the 220kV side, install an additional 220kV compartment of AT1-250MVA transformer. On the 110kV side, install 4 additional compartments including 1 110kV compartment of AT1-250MVA transformer and 3 110kV feeders. At the same time, complete technical solutions to suit the new scale of the substation.

The project's completion helps reduce the load and avoid overloading of the existing Can Tho 220kV transformer, meeting the load demand of Can Tho city and surrounding areas.
