Boosted power sources and stable power supply are remarkable results recorded in the inspection mission of Vietnam Electricity headed by Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors in Con Co island district (Quang Tri province).

EVN has been transferred and taken over the management and operation of electricity supply system in Con Co island district since August 10, 2017. Quang Tri Power Company under the Central Power Corporation was directly assigned by EVN/EVNCPC to do this task.

Quang Tri Power Company has secured electricity supply 24/24h for troops and people on the island. The company has established Con Co Power Station and installed one more generator with capacity 250 kVA (previously there were only 3 generators with a total capacity of 266 kVA). 100% of the meters on the island are replaced by electronic meters which have an automatic data collection system.

The average power output on the island is 25,000 kWh per month with totally 62 customers. Stable electricity sources help improve living conditions of the people and create great opportunities for Con Co island district to develop tourism.

It is forecasted that load demand on the island will continue increasing to 2.27 MVA by 2020, 3.66 MVA by 2025, and 4.67 MVA by 2030. Therefore, the power grid will need to be upgraded correspondingly to ensure a safe and uninterrupted power supply.
