Discussing about the energy situation in Vietnam, Chairman of EVN's Member Board Mr. Duong Quang Thanh said that Vietnam has a variety of power sources: Hydropower, thermopower, gas power, etc. Especially, after the Paris Agreement on climate change (COP 21), the Government of Vietnam has encouraged the development of renewable energy sources, aiming to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
However, the increase in the proportion of solar, wind power, etc., has also caused many difficulties in stabilizing the national electricity system. In this context, Vietnam is studying the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and building electric power centers using LNG.
